We invite all families to attend the first 10 to fifteen-minutes of Meeting for Worship in the Cozy Corner of our Meeting room. Here you will find books, crayons, paper and soft animals to help young hands and minds enjoy this quiet time. At 10:45 one of our First Day School teachers will lead the children to the First Day School room to read stories, do crafts and enjoy outdoor play, as weather permits. Teachers often use Quaker testimonies—Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, Stewardship, known as SPICES for short—to guide a discussion or activity.
There is no dress code or special book children need to have. Families are welcome to remain in First Day School with their children or re-join adults in worship. Do what is best for your family.
Every 5th Sunday is Intergenerational Meeting for Worship. We begin with a Godly Play story for the whole Meeting. Families can settle into the Cozy Corner.
The safety and wellbeing of our youngest Friends are deeply important to our community. All our teachers and many other OHFM adults have background checks from the state.
Children’s programs include intergenerational events such as preparing a meal for a local shelter, helping in the OHFM garden, and helping decorate our OHFM Peace Tree art project.
